Why do some people seem to work very hard, but their lives never seem to take an upward turn?

There's a very typical type of person.

They are not lazy.

On the contrary, they work very hard.

Even busier than most people.

Doing things every day.

Constantly trying to change.

But looking back after many years, they'll find a problem:

Life hasn't really entered an upward trajectory.

Just circling in place.

First, effort itself does not equal "conditions for ascent are met."

Many people mistakenly believe:

Effort = Ascent

But in reality, this is not the case.

Effort is just an input.

Ascent requires systemic conditions to be met.

For example:

Stable state
Continuous rhythm
Accumulable actions
Supportive environment

If these conditions are not met, effort can only maintain the status quo.

Second, busyness does not equal effective accumulation.

Many people seem very busy:

Constantly handling things
Constantly solving problems
Constantly making choices

But if these actions don't form continuity, they won't lead to accumulation.

As the ancients said:

"Labor without order dissipates strength."

Meaning that without structure, effort will only be consumed.

Third, without a "feedback loop," the system will not ascend.

The core of ascent is not effort, but a cycle:

Action → Feedback → Adjustment → Re-action

If the feedback loop is missing, it becomes:

Action → End → Restart

This cannot form a growth path.

Fourth, the state determines the "conversion rate" of effort.

The same effort has completely different effects in different states.

For example:

Stable state → High conversion
Anxious state → Low conversion
Chaotic state → No conversion

Many people's problem isn't effort, but prolonged exhaustion of their state.

Fifth, how Taoism understands the "non-ascending state."

Traditional views hold:

"If qi does not rise, momentum does not move."

Meaning if the overall state is not flowing upwards, no matter how much action there is, it's difficult to achieve breakthroughs.

Therefore, the ancients paid more attention to:

Inner stability
Consistent rhythm
Smooth qi flow

Rather than simply increasing the quantity of actions.

If you haven't entered an upward channel for a long time, check these three points:

First, do all your efforts lack continuity?

Second, have you been in a state of anxiety or exhaustion for a long time?

Third, have you failed to form a stable feedback mechanism?

Why some people suddenly start to ascend later.

It's not because they suddenly work harder.

It's because:

The state has stabilized
The rhythm has been established
The structure has formed
The cycle has begun

When the system enters a positive cycle, ascent is a natural outcome.

The role of talismans at this stage.

In the traditional system:

Luck-changing talismans are used to adjust the overall state structure
Peace-of-mind talismans are used to stabilize inner consumption
Luck-extending talismans are used to maintain continuous cycles
Wish-fulfilling talismans are used to strengthen directional choices

Essentially, they assist the system in entering an "ascendable state."

Conclusion

Many people think they aren't making progress because they aren't working hard enough.

But the deeper reason is often:

The system hasn't entered a structure that can support the ascent of effort.

When the state is stable, cycles are established, and the structure is complete, effort truly transforms into upward momentum.

The so-called ascent in life is essentially the system entering a positive cycle.
