Why are some people always so lucky? The ancients said that good luck is often not accidental.

Over the years, many people have asked me:
"Master, why are some people always so lucky?"
Doing business like others,
but they always meet benefactors.
Working like others,
but they always get opportunities.
Working hard like others,
but they always seem to have it easier.
Some people even think:
Are some people just born lucky?
This question has actually been pondered by the ancients for a long time.
Does good luck truly exist?
If good luck didn't exist at all,
it clearly wouldn't align with reality.
Because in life, there truly are some people:
- Who more easily get opportunities.
- Who more easily receive help.
- Who more easily make correct decisions.
- Who more easily gain support.
But to attribute all of this to fate would be too simplistic.
The ancients believed:
"Blessings do not come without reason, and misfortune does not occur without cause."
Good luck and bad luck often have their own processes of formation.
The first type of luck: Luck brought by one's state
Many lucky people actually share a common characteristic.
Their state of mind is relatively stable.
They don't panic immediately when encountering problems.
They don't get overly excited when encountering opportunities.
People with stable emotions are often able to:
- Make better judgments.
- Maintain continuous action.
- See opportunities that others overlook.
Therefore, it appears like luck.
In reality, it's a long-term accumulation.
The second type of luck: Opportunities brought by the environment
The ancients said:
"Geographical advantage is power."
Many opportunities don't appear suddenly.
They come from the environment.
For example:
- Excellent friends.
- A good work environment.
- Positive interpersonal relationships.
- A healthy lifestyle.
A person who is consistently in a positive environment is more likely to get opportunities.
This is also why Taoism places great importance on:
The harmony between people and their environment.
The third type of luck: The result of accumulated actions
Many so-called instances of luck
actually stem from the past.
A person who continuously learns,
a person who consistently builds connections,
a person who always works diligently—
when opportunities arise, they are more likely to seize them.
Others see it as luck,
but the ancients saw it as:
Accumulation.
Therefore, Taoism says:
"A family that accumulates good deeds will surely have abundant blessings."
Here, "good" doesn't just mean doing good deeds.
It also includes long-term correct behavior.
Why do some people always encounter benefactors?
Many people feel that encountering benefactors is purely luck.
But observing over the years,
many people who receive help often possess several characteristics:
- Sincerity.
- Stability.
- Trustworthiness.
- A willingness to help others.
The ancients believed:
"Where virtue gathers, so do people."
A person's behavior constantly influences their interpersonal relationships.
Over time, this forms what is called the "luck of meeting benefactors."
Therefore, benefactors don't come entirely from outside.
Many times, it's the result of one's own long-term accumulation.
How does Taoism understand "blessings"?
Many people understand blessings as wealth.
But the ancients had a broader understanding of blessings.
Including:
- Health.
- Peace.
- Family.
- Interpersonal relationships.
- Inner peace.
In the "Taishang Ganying Pian" it is stated:
"There is no door for fortune or misfortune; one calls them upon oneself."
This doesn't mean that everything is determined by oneself.
Rather, it reminds people that:
Many changes in fortune are closely related to one's own state.
Why do some people seem to be getting luckier and luckier?
Because good luck itself creates a cycle.
Smoothness brings confidence.
Confidence brings action.
Action creates opportunities.
Opportunities again bring smoothness.
The ancients said:
"When one's energy flows smoothly, fortune arises."
When a person's state becomes more and more stable, many things will gradually enter a virtuous cycle.
Then others will perceive:
"This person is extremely lucky."
Why is the Ruyi Talisman often used to seek good fortune?
The Ruyi Talisman in traditional Taoist practices doesn't make wishes come true out of thin air.
It emphasizes more:
- Clarifying goals.
- Stabilizing the mind.
- Reducing distractions.
- Strengthening direction.
Many people use the Ruyi Talisman during periods of career, exams, collaborations, and life planning.
Its meaning is to remind oneself:
Not to be disturbed by fear and anxiety.
When the mind is stable, actions are often more resolute.
And resoluteness also brings more opportunities.
How to make yourself luckier?
The ancients summarized several principles:
First, maintain stability.
Second, reduce internal friction.
Third, accumulate kindness.
Fourth, persist in action.
Fifth, remain humble.
Many times, luck doesn't appear suddenly.
Instead, it slowly forms through day-to-day accumulation.
Conclusion
Some people appear to be extraordinarily lucky.
But upon closer understanding, one realizes that
they possess more than just luck.
They also have a stable mind, persistent action, and long-term accumulation.
The ancients believed:
"Blessings are favorable circumstances."
When a person's state, direction, and environment gradually align, many things will become smoother.
Therefore, luck is not entirely accidental.
It often comes from the unseen accumulations of others.
