Why do some people feel unlucky even though they're not in a bad situation?

There is a very typical type of person.

Their real-life conditions are not bad.

Stable job.

Average or even good income.

No obvious life crises.

But they constantly have a feeling:

They have been going downhill.

They might even think:

"Why am I always so unlucky?"

First, much of the "unlucky feeling" comes from comparison.

A person's perception of luck is not an absolute value.

But a relative value.

For example:

Others got promoted
Others bought houses
Others' incomes increased

Even if one's own situation hasn't worsened, a sense of disparity arises.

This comparison constantly reinforces the feeling that "things aren't going well" for oneself.

As the ancients said:

"Seeking external forms leads to forms changing with the mind."

This means that when a person constantly compares outwards, their inner feelings will fluctuate.

Second, prolonged stress can distort the perception of luck.

If a person is under prolonged stress:

Their perception of life will change.

The same things:

Are considered normal when things go well
Are considered worse when things go poorly

This psychological bias amplifies negative events.

Over time, a fixed perception forms:

"I'm always unlucky."

But reality hasn't changed proportionally.

Third, minor problems are continuously magnified.

When people are in an unstable state, they pay special attention to small problems.

For example:

A mistake
A rejection
A delay

These normally occurring events are repeatedly remembered.

While good things are easily overlooked.

This creates "selective memory."

Leaving only negative impressions.

Fourth, a lack of rhythm can create a sense of stagnation.

Even if a person's situation hasn't worsened, if:

Life lacks change
There's no sense of growth
There are no new goals

They will also feel "stuck."

This feeling is easily misinterpreted as:

Worsening luck.

But essentially it is:

A lack of fluidity in life.

Fifth, how Taoism views this state.

Traditional belief holds:

"When energy stagnates, perception becomes chaotic."

When a person's state stagnates, their perception of the outside world also becomes chaotic.

It's not that reality has worsened.

But that perception has narrowed.

Therefore, the ancients emphasized:

Regulating qi
Calming the mind
Adjusting behavior

Rather than simply changing external events.

If you consistently feel unlucky, you can first do three things:

First, stop horizontal comparisons.

Second, establish small positive feedback goals.

Third, restore your life's rhythm.

The key is not to change everything, but to get life "moving" again.

The role of talismans in this stage.

In traditional systems, different talismans correspond to different states.

Luck-changing talismans are used to adjust overall state
Peace-of-mind talismans are used to stabilize emotional fluctuations
Luck-sustaining talismans are used to maintain a stable rhythm

Their core function is to help people return to a "sense of stability," rather than directly changing external outcomes.

Conclusion

Many people think they are unlucky.

But the real problem might be:

Life's rhythm and perception system have shifted.

When a person's rhythm is restored and their attention returns to themselves, rather than external comparisons, that "unlucky feeling" often naturally diminishes.

So-called luck is sometimes just a reflection of one's inner state.
